Gene Upshaw was NFL hall-of famer and head of the NFL Players Association…but he was much more than that. And the Gene Upshaw Memorial Foundation honors his legacy through their support of the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center. And, one of the ways the Foundation raises money is through an annual golf tournament that brings in top former NFL players like Marcus Allen and the greatest female golfer of all-time, Annika Sorenstram. If you’re not familiar with the American Century Championship, it’s a celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood in Tahoe South. Stars from the big screen to the NBA, NFL and MLB turn out for this unique event. But even if you know about it, you may not know about the great charities that benefit from this tournament.
