It’s ok, I’m an addict too…

People who visit Tahoe South to ski and snowboard just can’t seem to get enough of it. That’s ok; not all addictions are unhealthy. First Tracks Productions came up with the premise and produced the intro for Tahoe South’s new “Get Your Fix” video. We then mixed in some really strong and fun skiing and snowboarding footage that we shot all around the South Shore to give people a taste of what they can experience during winter in Tahoe South.

See you at the next meeting:

Alexis Roland – Still Charging at the Advanced Age of 12

It seems like Alexis Roland has to be older. Not only has she been on the scene and turning heads in contests and video parts for years, but she’s doing stuff that older riders just aren’t doing yet. Hiking for powder? Check. Hitting street rails? Check. Tech tricks in the park? Check.

First Tracks Productions only filmed a few days with Lexi this season, but that’s all it takes with her to make a really fun video. Check it out:

2 First Tracks videos getting some love…

The pride we get from doing a good job and knowing we did a good job is all well and good. But at the same time, it’s a cool feeling when our work is recognized by our peers. Our egos need some love too. So, we’re pretty stoked that 2 videos that First Tracks recently produced have received some really positive recognition:

In February, First Tracks produced a video on the opening of the Burton-Star Wars park at Sierra-at-Tahoe — an amazing experience that introuduces little ones to the sport of snowboarding in a fun and unique fashion. Ski Area Management, an industry/trade magazine, highlighted this video (one of only 4 videos they recognized positively) and labeled it the “Heartwarming Video of the Year.” You can see the video here:

Also in February, First Tracks produced a video to help get some attention for a great non-profit, SkiDUCK. The video — a parody of the song “I’ve Been Everywhere” changed to “I’ve Skied Everywhere” — will be showcased at the National Ski Area Association’s annual conference in San Antonio this month. Not going to make it to the conference? No worries. You can see the video here:

Mohawks and Beer…Apres Ski and Gunbarrel 25

If you’ve been up to Tahoe South in the Spring, then you know this isn’t an “off-season”. Far from it. Apres ski is going off and the event calendar is full. One iconic event is Glen Plake’s Gunbarrel 25. The man with the mohawk and rubber knees knows how to make a tough day fun. We check out some highlights from the GB25 and the scene around town in the this video…

Got Powder?

Kirkwood usually does. And, they’ve got some legit terrain to go along with all the snow they get. So, Kirkwood has something pretty unique and they call it Expedition Kirkwood. This isn’t your normal ski school. They specialize in getting guests ready to tackle the backcountry and “in-bounds backcountry”. They have Avalanche Instruction courses, Snow Cat tours, and their guides can take you out on touring skis and splitboards to access the good too. I caught up with EK on March 29th and got a few runs in with one of their groups. This crew got the goods…and they were stoked – check it out:

Shooting with Alexis Roland…updated, with video

12 year-old Alexis Roland isn’t your normal 12 year-old. She doesn’t plant herself in front of a TV or video game system. She doesn’t have any Justin Bieber on her mp3 player. She loves to snowboard and she works hard to get better all the time. Lexi has been sponsored by Burton Snowboards for about 5 years and, for good reason. She’s doing things on her board that a lot of really good, older riders don’t even think of doing. What’s really cool, is seeing someone her age hiking for powder and hitting features outside of the terrain park. And no matter how the shooting goes, she does it all with a smile. We’ll be putting together some new videos for her soon, but in the meantime, check out some photos and still frames (pulled from footage) of Lexi shooting with First Tracks Productions at Lake Tahoe this past week:

What does a bald eagle, a bear cub, skiing, snowboarding and 24-hour night-life have in common? The Wild Side…

Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority and Tahoe South have come up with a great tagline to describe the area: The Wild Side. With all the outdoor activities we have, coupled with 24-hour nightlife, the tag fits.

Tahoe South is currently hosting the North American Snowsports Journalists Conference and First Tracks Productions was contracted to produce a video that showcases all the area has to offer while incorporating the new “Wild Side” theme. We had some fun with that part. Check it out!
