Tour de Tahoe – 72 Beautiful Miles On Skinny Tires

The Tour de Tahoe gives riders a great opportunity to do an amazing ride and many do it for an amazing cause. A lot of the riders were raising money to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research. Even if you’re not in to road cycling, check this out for the gorgeous views…or, at least for the spandex.

Michael Jordan, Bobcat Kittens and Red Rover…all in one video

If you’re not familiar with the American Century Championship, it’s a celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood in Tahoe South. Stars from the big screen to the NBA, NFL and MLB turn out for this unique event. But even if you know about it, you may not know about the great charities that benefit from this tournament.

First Tracks Productions was brought in to help get the word out about these charities and their good work. This video was shown at a kick-off event at Edgewood and will air on NBCSPORTS.com as well.

1188 Riders. A World Record. Good Times…

On May 17th, The Slow Rollers of South Lake Tahoe put together an amazing event – a single-file bicycle parade with the goal of breaking a Guinness World Record. The previous record was 916 riders in Davis, CA. Well, we shattered that – and had a great time doing it! Check out the fun…

2 First Tracks videos getting some love…

The pride we get from doing a good job and knowing we did a good job is all well and good. But at the same time, it’s a cool feeling when our work is recognized by our peers. Our egos need some love too. So, we’re pretty stoked that 2 videos that First Tracks recently produced have received some really positive recognition:

In February, First Tracks produced a video on the opening of the Burton-Star Wars park at Sierra-at-Tahoe — an amazing experience that introuduces little ones to the sport of snowboarding in a fun and unique fashion. Ski Area Management, an industry/trade magazine, highlighted this video (one of only 4 videos they recognized positively) and labeled it the “Heartwarming Video of the Year.” You can see the video here:

Also in February, First Tracks produced a video to help get some attention for a great non-profit, SkiDUCK. The video — a parody of the song “I’ve Been Everywhere” changed to “I’ve Skied Everywhere” — will be showcased at the National Ski Area Association’s annual conference in San Antonio this month. Not going to make it to the conference? No worries. You can see the video here:

Mohawks and Beer…Apres Ski and Gunbarrel 25

If you’ve been up to Tahoe South in the Spring, then you know this isn’t an “off-season”. Far from it. Apres ski is going off and the event calendar is full. One iconic event is Glen Plake’s Gunbarrel 25. The man with the mohawk and rubber knees knows how to make a tough day fun. We check out some highlights from the GB25 and the scene around town in the this video…

Got Powder?

Kirkwood usually does. And, they’ve got some legit terrain to go along with all the snow they get. So, Kirkwood has something pretty unique and they call it Expedition Kirkwood. This isn’t your normal ski school. They specialize in getting guests ready to tackle the backcountry and “in-bounds backcountry”. They have Avalanche Instruction courses, Snow Cat tours, and their guides can take you out on touring skis and splitboards to access the good too. I caught up with EK on March 29th and got a few runs in with one of their groups. This crew got the goods…and they were stoked – check it out:

Shooting with Alexis Roland…updated, with video

12 year-old Alexis Roland isn’t your normal 12 year-old. She doesn’t plant herself in front of a TV or video game system. She doesn’t have any Justin Bieber on her mp3 player. She loves to snowboard and she works hard to get better all the time. Lexi has been sponsored by Burton Snowboards for about 5 years and, for good reason. She’s doing things on her board that a lot of really good, older riders don’t even think of doing. What’s really cool, is seeing someone her age hiking for powder and hitting features outside of the terrain park. And no matter how the shooting goes, she does it all with a smile. We’ll be putting together some new videos for her soon, but in the meantime, check out some photos and still frames (pulled from footage) of Lexi shooting with First Tracks Productions at Lake Tahoe this past week:
